Dell, Verizon to launch laptop with wireless LAN
font size

Dell plans to launch a laptop imbedded with Verizon wireless LAN early next year, the company revealed Monday.

Verizon Wireless is also talking with other computer producers including Lenovo, hoping to reach similar deals soon, insiders said. Verizon Wireless is a joint venture by Verizon Communications and Vodafone Group Plc.

This second largest mobile producer in the United States possesses an EV-DO based wireless network, which covers one third of American population. Users now have to buy an independent wireless card to enjoy the service.

To make up for losses caused by declining telephone fees, telephone companies worldwide are developing high-speed network able to provide Internet surfing and e-mail service on computers and telephones.
