Indonesian Navy troops killed a Chinese crewman and wounded two others while chasing a Chinese fishing boat which tried to escape from check on Monday in the Arafuru sea off the Papua Island, the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia confirmed Wednesday.

Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia, Yu Hongyao, told Xinhua that China was dissatisfied with what the Indonesian Navy had done to the Chinese ship named Fuyuan 123.

The Chinese Embassy is making representations to the Indonesian side, expecting it to inform the Chinese side of the latest developments, he said.

The Chinese Embassy is also confirming the identities of the dead and the injured, he added.

Local media quoted Toni Syaiful, the press officer from Indonesia's eastern fleet, as saying that the incident occurred at 10:50 a.m. local time and the Nany fired 13 shots altogether.

The ship is now detained in Surabaya on the east of the main island Java, Syaiful said.

The Arafuru sea is about 3,800 km east of the capital Jakarta.
