US urges Iran to be transparent over its nuclear programThe United States urged Iran to be transparent about its nuclear program, or it will have to face the consequence of being referred to the United Nations Security Council, State Department deputy spokesman Adam Ereli said at a briefing on Wednesday. Ereli called on Iran to resume negotiations with the EU-3, namely France, Germany and Britain. The United States has been seeking support at the meetings of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna to refer Iran to the United Nations Security Council for possible sanctions. Iran has threatened that if the IAEA will do so, it will resume uranium enrichment activities and withdraw from the nuclear nonproliferation treaty. Source: Xinhua |
