font size

A suspect in the July 21 abortive London bombings was extradited to Britain on Thursday afternoon from Italy, Sky news reported.

Hussein Osman, also known as Hamdi Isaac, had been held in Rome since his arrest there a week after the attempted bombings.

He is accused of trying to blow himself up on a train at Shepherd's Bush underground station in London.

Upon his landing in London, Osman was arrested by anti-terrorist police on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder and alleged offenses under the Explosive Substances Act 1883.

He was taken to a police station in central London where he will be formally charged.

Osman will be charged with various offenses relating to his alleged attempt to blow up an underground train on the same day as three other failed attacks in the capital.

He will remain in custody and appear Friday at Bow Street magistrates court sitting at the high security Belmarsh complex in southeast London.

Three other alleged suicide bombers have been charged in Britain over the failed bombings. They are Ibrahim Muktar Said, 27, from north London; Ramzi Mohamed, 23, from west London and Yassin Omar, 24, from north London.

All the three are charged with conspiring to murder and make or possess explosives with intent to endanger lives or cause serious injury.
