Man arrested for terrorism suspicion at Britain's Manchester airport
font size

One man was arrested under the anti-terror law at Britain's Manchester airport and an army bomb squad was checking a suspicious package, police said on Friday.

A Taser gun was used to subdue the suspect, who had been seen acting suspiciously in the area where aircraft are parked at about 8:30 a.m. (0730 GMT), Greater Manchester Police said.

Parts of Terminals 1 and 2 were closed, and the army bomb disposal unit was called to investigate the suspicious package found near an aircraft.

The BBC reported that a man with a suitcase had been seen walking under an aircraft.

Manchester Airport, in the northwest of England, is home to around 95 airlines.

Britain has been on high alert for more attacks since the suicide bomb attacks on London transport system on July 7, in which more than 50 people were killed.
