Two American soldiers were injured as their vehicle ran over a mine in the troubled Kandahar province Friday, a US military statement said Saturday.
"Two US soldiers were injured when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device northwest of Kandahar city in the Panjwayi district of Kandahar province Friday," the statement added.
The soldiers, the statement added were evacuated to Kandahar airfield for treatments are in stable condition.
However, it declined to name the victims saying their names and units of the soldiers are being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
During the firefight, according to the statement three militants were also detained.
According to US military 10 more suspected Taliban and one Afghan soldier were killed in a gun battle in Kandahar's neighboring province of Uruzgan on Thursday.
One US soldier was also injured in the firefight took place in the restive Deh Rawad district when they came in contact with some 20 suspected militants, the US military confirmed.
Taliban's remnants that failed to derail the landmark September 18 Afghan parliamentary elections have vowed to continue Jihad or holy war until the US-dominated foreign troops leave Afghanistan.
