Key IAEA board meeting postponed
font size

The IAEA board of governors meeting, which will focus on discussing the EU's resolution on Iran nuke issue, was postponed, an IAEA official announced Vienna on Saturday.

"The meeting has been postponed to 4:15," the IAEA official said.

The meeting had been previously arranged to begin at 3 p.m. local time.

The diplomacy on the Iran nuclear issue hit climax on Saturday as the afternoon IAEA session is due to "take a decision" on the EU 's draft resolution that accuses Iran of breaching the nuclear NON-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Safeguards Agreement.

Sources said when the meeting goes through the resolution, if no member of the IAEA board expresses opposition, the resolution would be adopted in consensus; If someone says "no", a voting procedure would be taken and a simple majority is enough to adopt the document.

The Non-Aligned Movement countries, who have 14 seats within the IAEA board, were still discussing their countermeasures on the EU's move.
