According to Hong Kong Observatory, the center of severe tropical storm Damrey was estimated to be about 290 kilometers south-southeast of Hong Kong, near 19.8 degrees north and 114.9 degrees east.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No 3 is in force, although the storm is expected to skirt Hong Kong.

Classes of all kindergartens, schools for physically handicapped children are suspended due to the bad weather.

Ferries to Tuen Mun, Tai O and several other islands are suspended.

A road near the University of Hong Kong needs to close because two big trees fell down in the storm.
