The European Union has repeated its condemnation of the Tamil Tigers for its continued use of violence and terror and warned the organization of banning it among the member states.

"The European Union is actively considering the formal listing of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) as a terrorist organization," a statement issued said Tuesday.

The EU says that it repeats its condemnation of the shocking murder of foreign minister Lakshman Kadirgamar and of so many others in Sri Lanka in recent weeks.

"The pursuit of political goals by such totally unacceptable methods only serves to damage the LTTE's standing and credibility as a negotiating partner," the statement stressed.

The EU told the Tigers that their delegations would no longer be received by EU member states until further notice.

The LTTE has been banned already in the US, Britain and India and faced the danger of being sanctioned by the EU member states ever since their hand in the Aug. 12 assassination of the foreign minister Lakshman Kadirgamar, a bitter critic of the Tigers. However, the LTTE has denied the accusation.
