TD-SCDMA expected to take 1/3 of China's 3G market

TD-SCDMA, China's homegrown technology standard for the third generation mobile communication, is expected to take more than one third of the country's 3G market shares which would worth nearly a trillion yuan.

The remark was made by Zhou Huan, president of Datang Telecom Technology and Industry Group, at a signing ceremony between Datang and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China of an agreement on strategic cooperation and financial consultancy.

Officials from the Ministry of Information Industry said earlier that China is now fully prepared for 3G and the ministry, together with other related departments, would propose this year their suggestions on policy-making over 3G development.

Tests by MII showed that TD-SCDMA is ready to be put into large-scale commercial use. Network planning and application studies are under way as preparations for actual operation. The financial support from ICBC this time will surely give a push to the national telecom industry.
