A car bomb went off in a busy market in Iraq's Hilla city south of Baghdad on Friday morning, killing at least 10 people and wounding more than 30 others, an Interior Ministry source said.
"The blast occurred at about 9:30 am (0530 GMT) when an explosive-laden vehicle parked at the side of a road in the al-Ammar vegetable market in Hilla city, some 100 km south of Baghdad," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
"We have at least 10 people killed, including two children and a woman, and more than 30 others wounded in the blast of Hilla's central district of al-Sharia," the source quoted a local police report as saying.
Iraqi security forces and ambulances rushed to the scene and sealed off the area, as security members, emergency workers and civilians transferred wounded people to nearby hospitals.
Others collected dead bodies and human parts from the streets covered with pools of blood and human flesh.
On Thursday night, three car bombs exploded simultaneously in Balad, 90 km north of Baghdad, killing some 75 people and wounding about 125.
Among the injured, some 40 are slightly wounded and left the hospitals after receiving medical treatment, according to latest police reports.
