AJ Auxerre sends protesting letter to UEFA against Levski's victory
font size

UEFA has received protests from AJ Auxerre against the result of their UEFA Cup first round second-leg match on Thursday, said the bulgarian "focus" news agency.

The French club claims a technical error occurred in their game against PFC Levski Sofia after the Bulgarian side's goalkeeper kicked the ball into touch when an Auxerre player was injured. The protest grounds are that a Levski player took the throw-in, instead of one from Auxerre, due to the referee's neglect.

Levski won the match 1-0 to proceed to the group stage on away goals following a 2-2 aggregate score.

The Auxerre protest will be dealt with by UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Committee on Monday afternoon.

The Bulgarian football fans have been celebrating a historic treble victories of UEFA Cup as PFC CSKA Sofia, PFC Levski Sofia and PFC Litex Lovech all progressed to the group stage for the first time.
