Bali bombers have something to do with perpetrators of past boming attacks: police
font size

Indonesia's national police chief Gen. Sutanto said it was possible the perpetrators of Saturday's bombings in Bali belonged to the same network as those who carried out previous terror bombing attacks in the country.

"The possibility arises if we look at their modus operandi, namely using suicide bombers. The bombs used may be be different but the pattern of their behavior is the same," Sutanto said here Monday.

Based on investigations in the field, witnesses' statements as well as other clues, it had been conclded that three of the dead victims in the blasts belonged to the perpetrators.

"We are now conducting a further investigation to determine to which group they belonged to and whether they acted as memebrs of the same group because the blasts took place at three different places at the same time," he added.

Police were also trying to find out whether Saturday's bombings had something to do with fugitive teror masterminds Dr Azahari and Noordin M Top.

But the investigations would not only be focussed on the two groups but also in other directions based on the evailable clues and evidence, Sutanto said.

Sutanto said police were now still collecteing information and data as well as questioning a numder of witnesses in a bid to find out the suspects.
