Singapore sends medical team to help Bali bomb victims

Singapore later Monday sent a medical team to the Indonesian resort island of Bali to help treat victims of the terrorist attacks last Saturday.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Defense Affairs, the team of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), made up of two doctors, two nurses and two paramedics, will assist medical staff at Bali island's Sanglah General Hospital.

Singapore, one of Indonesia's neighbors, has condemned the terrorist attacks in Bali and said it would continue to work with the Indonesian authorities to further strengthen their cooperation to fight terrorism, the ministry said.

Singapore has no confirmed report of any Singaporean casualty, and the city state now is still trying to contact another 10 Singaporeans in Bali.

In Bali, Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong later Monday met Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to discuss a wide range of bilateral and regional issues, including cooperation between the two countries in fight agaisnt terrorism.
