Switzerland condemns Bali bombings
font size

Switzerland on Monday strongly condemned the terrorist attacks on Indonesia's Bali Island that caused many casualties.

"Once again, innocent people are the victims of indiscriminate and brutal attacks. These acts of violence also threaten peace and stability in the region," the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a statement.

The DFA said it had contacted all Swiss citizens known to be in Bali at the time of the attack, and these citizens were all in good health.

Saturday's attacks in Bali are the fourth of their kind in Indonesia since the October 2002, when bombing attacks killed 202 people, mostly foreigners.

The DFA warned of further terrorist attacks, and advised Swiss people considering traveling to Indonesia to consult the travel advice on its website.

At least 26 people were killed and 122 injured when bombs exploded at three tourist-packed restaurants Saturday evening on Bali, a favorite destination for western tourists.
