Two persons were killed in a bomb explosion Tuesday afternoon near the passing gate of Afghan southern province of Kandahar, an Afghan official said.
"One woman and one child were killed in the bomb explosion near the passing gate of Spin Boldak district of Kandahar just now.The bomb was put in a gas balloon near the gate, and the explosion also caused eight persons injured, including a woman," Abdul Razaq, the bordering police commander told Xinhua.
The investigation is still going on, and nobody has been captured for the explosion till now, the commander added.
This passing gate is a very big border gate between Afghanistan and Pakistan, hundreds of people come and go between the two countries through this gate everyday.
Taliban militants, failed to derail the landmark September 18 parliamentary elections, intensified their attacks against the Afghan and foreign troops. In the recent attack, a suicide bomber of Taliban killed ten Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers, and injured 36 in a bus station in Afghan capital Kabul.
At the same time, Afghan troops also carried out the operation of fighting back. In the recent operation, 28 Taliban were killed Sunday night during the attack with ANA in Afghan eastern province of Paktia.
Over 1,200 people with majority of them militants, according to official sources, have been killed in Taliban-led insurgency against some 20,000-storng US-dominated foreign troops and 30,000 fledgling Afghan National Army since the beginning of this year.
