EU to enhance transport cooperation with RussiaThe European Union (EU) and Russia will hold regular dialogs for better coordinating their transport policies, according to a memorandum signed between the two sides here on Monday. The Memorandum of Understanding on the creation of an EU-Russia Transport Dialog, signed by EU Transport Commissioner Jacques Barrot and Russian Transport Minister Igor Levitin, foresees a regular exchange of information between the two sides in air, waterway and land transport as well as transport security. Meanwhile, the European Commission said in a statement that five specific working groups are to be set up and will meet regularly to discuss issues of common interests in all modes of transport. The working groups will focus respectively on transport strategies and public-private partnership, transport security, air transport, sea-river and inland waterway transport, and road and rail transport, the statement said.
