The worldwide sales of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter books have topped 300 million copies, according to the author's agent on Tuesday.

The tales of the schoolboy wizard and his fight against the evil Voldemort have already been translated into 63 languages.

Six of the seven-part fantasy novel have been published to date with one more in the series promised by Rowling, one of the world's most successful writers.

The film version of the fourth book of Harry Potter, named "the Goblet of Fire", will be released next month.

"We are delighted to announce that worldwide sales for the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling have now exceeded 300 million copies," said Christopher Little, a spokeswoman for Rowling's literary agent.

More than a third of all the Harry Potter novels sold have gone to the United States.

The latest Harry Potter novel "The Half-Blood Prince" was published in July after a two-year wait and has immediately become a global best-seller.
