US soldier killed by roadside bomb in Baghdad
font size

A US soldier was killed when a roadside bomb went off near a US military patrol in northern Baghdad on Thursday morning, US military spokesman said.

The name of the victim was being withheld pending notification of next of kin, he said.

The Iraqi police reported earlier a roadside bomb hit a US military convoy in Baghdad's northern al-Shu'la district, damaging two US Humvees.

About 1,940 US servicemen have been killed in Iraq since the US- led invasion in March 2003.
