A suicide car bomb attacked police in western Baghdad on Saturday, killing at least seven people and wounding 16 others, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.
"Some police were investigating at a traffic accident scene, and suddenly a car laden with explosives rushed toward them and blew up," the source said, adding "at least seven people, including one policeman and six civilians, were killed and another 16 were wounded, including 10 policemen and six civilians."
With a referendum on Iraq's draft constitution a week away, insurgents are intensifying attacks against police and military forces in a bid to disrupt the political process in the violence- ravaged country.
