Per request of the Pakistani government the Chinese government has sent a disaster relief team to the earthquake-hit area in Pakistan on October 9 on an international humanitarian mission, said China Earthquake Administration.
China's international rescue team arrived at Islamabad airport Sunday afternoon. The 49-member team will then go to the earthquake-hit areas of Pakistan for humanitarian aids.
The team is headed by Zhao Heping, deputy director of the Administration, and formed by 49 search and rescue, medical workers and seismic experts.
Six sniffer dogs, eight tons of special rescue equipment and nine tons of relief material were also brought by the team.
It was learned that the first batch of relief material provided by the Chinese government to the Pakistani government has been dispatched at 12 am October 9 and is expected to arrive in Islamabad at 5 pm Beijing time.
After strong earthquake occurred in the north of Pakistan, the Chinese government decided to provide emergency humanitarian relief worth of US$6.2 million to the Pakistani government and sent a rescue team to the earthquake-hit area in Pakistan.
