IJF senior official thumbs up for BOCOG's preparations

Beijing Organizing Committee for 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG) has done an excellent job in preparation for judo event, said senior official of International Judo Federation (IJF) on Monday after supervising the sport's competitions in the 10th National Games.

"The organizing job here has been done excellently, and it promises me that for Beijing Games would be as good or even better," said Francois P. Besson, Sports Director of the world judo governing body.

"Here's clean and clear," he commented on the National Games' competition site of judo, slated from 10-13 at the capital city ofJiangsu province where is to formally unveil the most important quadrennial games in China on Wednesday. "Everybody is right on his position, the look of the field of play is very clear, and spectators can easily see what's going on.

"Also there is a big group of high level referees, the securities are well-done, and staff are all in uniform or white sweaters. To me, they've given very good first in vision," added the official, also the IJF's technique delegation for 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

Besson firstly involved himself in the organizations of Olympics in the Barcelona Games in 1992, and has participated in preparations and competition organizations for Olympic judo event in nearly every Games since then.

It's the tenth trip of him to China for supervising the preparations of BOCOG when the stadium for Olympic judo event is to be kicked off construction eight days later in the University of Science and Technology of Beijing, located in north downtown ofthe capital city.

"I've been to the location, and the transportation there seems excellent," said Besson, who breezily brushed aside a transportation problem having been widely criticized in Beijing's preparation work for 2008 Olympics.

"It's the first time we have a judo game in a city but a heart cycle of the city," he added.

"China's judo level is very high and I'm pleased to see that the IOC have insisted to have judo in Beijing...and it's very nicefeeling to see a lot of students in the college, where the judo event will be held during the 2008 Games, are eager to see judo there.

"It's exciting for us, especially when see that some student have been involved in the sport as well as in the organizing and refereeing work of the sport," said the official.
