Two police killed in attack on police patrol in Baghdad
font size

Gunmen attacked a police patrol in western Baghdad on Monday, killing two policemen and wounding three others, police said.

"Armed men opened fire at a police patrol in Adel district, damaging three police vehicles, one of them totally burned," Captain Ahmed Abdullah from Baghdad police told Xinhua.

Earlier on Monday, three car bombs including two suicide ones went off in the Iraqi capital, killing three police commandos and wounding 11 people.

Insurgents frequently ambushed Iraqi security forces and government employees in a bid to cripple the Shiite-dominated government formed in late April.
