US air strike leaves 10 Taliban militias dead in Afghanistan
font size

Ten suspected Taliban operatives were killed in southern Uruzgan province as the US air attacks targeted the militants' hideout Wednesday, provincial governor said.

"To eliminate Taliban, the US war planes stroked militias' hideout in Charchino district this morning killing 10 enemies," Jan Mohammad Khan told Xinhua.

The air attacks took place after the militants attacked a police van and killed six constables, he added.

The militants in the neighboring Helmand province in a bloody ambush killed 18 policemen on Tuesday.

In another insurgency one more bomb went off in the remote district of Daman in southern Kandahar province Wednesday, but caused no life or property damage, according to officials.

Kandahar, the former stronghold of Taliban, has been the scene of bloody violence since weekend during which 11 people including a pro-government commander have been killed and over dozen others including four Britons have been injured.
