Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao Thursday briefed China's top advisory body on a draft program for China's economic and social development in the next five years, which has been approved by the Central Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC).
Wen made the briefing at the 11st session of the Standing Committee of 10th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), which opened in Beijing on Thursday morning.
The crux of the program is to build a harmonious society through implementing the scientific concept of development, he said.
The program calls for stable and relatively fast economic growth in the next five years, Wen said, adding that China will step up its strategic adjustment of the economic structure, transform its mode of economic growth, and constantly improve living standards for the whole nation.
Major efforts will be devoted to balancing the relations between home demand and international demand, market mechanism and macro control, the central government and local governments, economic development and social development, as well as among reform, development and stability, he said.
