Another history has been made when China announced the completion of Qinghai-Tibet railway, the world's most elevated railway on Oct. 15, 2005. The landmark project, being the world's longest plateau railway, stretches 1,956 kilometres from Xining to Lhasa. The track-laying of Germu to Lhasa section, with a total length of 1,142 kilometres was launched on June 29, 2001. Photo shows the track-laying process underway in Lhasa station.
