Pakistan has made a long-term strategy for reconstruction and rehabilitation from a strong earthquake on Oct. 8.
The reconstruction and rehabilitation would be "the most difficult and long-term phase which will take months and even years", said President Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday in a nationwide broadcast.
The government needs to rebuild state buildings, schools, hospitals, colleges, police stations and houses which have collapsed, he said, adding that it also wants to set up rehabilitation centers for children who have become orphans and those whose parents have not been traced.
Musharraf also said two divisions army had been sent to Azad Kashmir and one division in the northwest Frontier province (NWFP) which was conducting relief operation in the quake-hit areas.
While expressing gratitude for donations Pakistan has received from 32 countries, the Pakistani president said, "I think the amount (needed) is going to far exceed this and is going to be beyond the reach of Pakistani government."
"Therefore, I appeal to all donors, any donors from the world, I appeal to you to donate more to the President's Relief Fund," he said.
Musharraf disclosed that so far, Pakistanis has donated aid of 4 billion rupees (one US dollar is about 60 rupees) and international community donated 610 million dollars.
