The first session of Saddam Hussein's trial ended Wednesday afternoon after judge ordered adjournment until Nov. 28.

Judge Rizgar Mohammed Amin made the adjournment decision after Adnan al-Dulaimi, Saddam's lawyer, requested a three-month postponement.

Captured by US troops in December 2003, Saddam, 68, is facing trials for his alleged crimes against his countrymen.

A panel of five judges will try the ousted Iraqi leader. If convicted, Saddam will face death penalty.

The judges have received training in international criminal law in Britain, the Netherlands and Italy, according to the United States, which has allocated 75 million US dollars as fund to support the investigations.
