The destiny of Saddam Hussein should be totally decided by Iraqi people, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said Thursday in Beijing.
Kong told a regular press conference that China has closely paid attention to the trial of Saddam and the relevant reports.
China hopes that the situation in Iraq will stabilize as soon as possible and that the Iraqi people will soon rebuild their homeland to live a stable life, Kong said.
The trial of Saddam and his aides started in Baghdad on Wednesday, and was adjourned until Nov. 28 after Adnan al-Dulaimi, Saddam's lawyer, requested a three-month postponement.
