Skyworth inks deals worth US$130m

The Shenzhen-based TV maker Skyworth Group has signed export contracts worth US$130 million with five overseas companies during the Seventh China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF).

The five companies were from the United States, Australia and Malaysia. The products for export include color TV sets, mobile phones, LCDs (liquid crystal displays) and security protection monitors.

The debut of Skyworth's mobile phones at the fair attracted a great deal of attention from Chinese and overseas visitors.

The company will export mobile phones to the United States as per an agreement worth US$20 million signed with an American business partner.

The contracted volume of LCD TV exports amounted to US$100 million.

Since last October, Skyworth has promoted its Flying Dragon Plan, which aims at promoting and exporting China's own brands and changing the world's idea of China as being a "global processing factory."

In March, 1,000 LCD TV sets developed entirely by Skyworth were exported to Japan for the first time, and well received.

Since then, Skyworth has exported 250,000 TV sets to Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, the United States, as well some c ountries in Asia and the Middle East.

Vice Mayor Liu Yingli, who attended the contract signing ceremony held by Skyworth at the weekend, praised Skyworth's contribution to exports.
