Abbas condemns Hadera suicide bombing attack
font size

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday condemned the suicide bombing attack in the Israeli coastal city of Hadera earlier Wednesday.

Abbas told reporters in Ramallah that the suicide bombing attack is harming the highest interests of the Palestinian people.

A suicide bomber blew himself up in front of a falafel stand at a public market in downtown Hadera, killing at least five Israelis and wounding 30 others, five of them in serious condition.

Saraya al Quds, the armed wing of Islamic Jihad (Holy War), claimed responsibility for the suicide attack shortly afterwards.

Palestinian witnesses said militants in the village of Qabatia, near the northern West Bank city of Jenin, shouted in loudspeakers that the suicide bomber named Hassan Ahmed Abu Zeid, 26, member of Saraya al Quds.

The militants said in loudspeakers that Abu Zeid carried out the attack to revenge the killing of Loay Saadi, a senior commander of Saraya al Quds in northern West Bank, in Tulkarem on Sunday night, the witnesses said.
