The Australian transport safety authorities met officials from Thai Airways to discuss the landing mishap at Australia's Melbourne airport Wednesday as the jet was examined by engineers.

Thai Airways flight 981 from Thailand's capital of Bangkok burst a tire and swerved down the runway at Melbourne airport earlier in the day. There was also a small fire in its undercarriage.

However, none of the 253 passengers on board the Airbus A-340 was injured.

All flights were suspended and the airport was shut down for a short time after the incident.

Domestic flights are still being delayed Wednesday night, Australian Broadcasting Corporation radio reported.

The airline said there is minor damage to the plane but it must wait for clearance from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau ( ATSB) before it can return to Bangkok.

Domestic flights at the Melbourne airport are expected to be back to normal by Thursday morning.
