Hamas rejects Abbas' blame for chaos
font size

The Islamic Resistance Movement ( Hamas) on Thursday slammed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' statement that Palestinian factions were also responsible for the deteriorating security situation in the territories.

Terming Abbas' blame as an insult to the Palestinian factions, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said the cabinet headed by Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei, instead of the Palestinian factions, was responsible for the rampant chaos.

Addressing the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) on Wednesday, Abbas said both Israel and the Palestinian factions should be responsible for the current chaos and security deterioration.

The PLC is debating on a no-confidence motion against the Qurei 's cabinet, accusing it of failing to stem out chaos.

"Equaling the Palestinian factions with Israel is a contradiction to the truth and an insult to all Palestinian factions," said Zuhri, adding "the security apparatuses are solely to blame for the deteriorating security situation."
