An explosion rocked northern Gaza late Thursday, killing at least two and wounding five others, the Qatar-based al-Jezeera channel reported.
Israeli forces fired missiles in the Jabaliya refugee camp after nightfall, said the report.
Shadi Mohanna, the Islamic Jihad field commander in northern Gaza, was killed along with his assistant, Mohammed Ghazaineh, said media reports.
Israeli forces have stepped up offensive in the Gaza Strip after an Islamic Jihad (Holy War) suicide militant killed five Israelis in the northern Israeli city of Hadera in revenge for the killing of one of its top leaders.
