Intel takes lead in building digital homes

At the Intel Developer Forum held on Oct. 27 in Shanghai, Intel and other nine enterprises showcased the latest home-style technology, and vowed to forge cooperation in pushing forward the development of digital home industry.

A number of enterprises exhibited the Intel Viiv technology based PCs, the newest video frequency, PC games as well as application software. For instance, SMGBB introduced the content service of appliance user interface; SOHU is now probing the characteristic of customers' demands in dynamic pattern so as to develop new business pattern in this regard; Ourgame is cooperating with Intel in developing leisure PC game services; and Shanda Network, while actively cooperating with Intel, believes that it is an inevitable tendency to put the content of PC and broad band onto TV.

Microsoft's MCE operation system enables users to combine various multimedia entertainment programmes together with computers, which is free from the limit of space, facilities as well the mode of programmes, and revolutionizes the way people enjoy TV, films, music and pictures as well as online entertainment programmes. Meanwhile, it also functions like household appliances. A remote control brings various entertainment experience to customers. Currently, Microsoft is cooperating with Intel to optimize MCE's service.

TCL will realise the connection of computer, TV and the screen of mobile phones in designing digital home platform. Meanwhile, PC game DMA jointly developed with Intel which can be connected with PC and computer will be put into market soon. It is said that it is TCL's latest achievement of home-style mode.

Apart from those, Founder Technology, Hisense and Tsinghua Tongfang also entered the digital home industry by providing innovative and fashionable computer and electronic facilities.
