font size

Four British soldiers serving the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) came under attack and were wounded in northern Balksh province Saturday, a spokesman of the multinational force said.

"Four British soldiers injured this morning in front of Blue Mosque in Mazar-e-Shairf city," Michael Charlie told Xinhua.

An investigation was under way.

"Police have arrested four men in this regard," the spokesman added.

It is the first time that NATO-led peacekeeping forces have come under attack in the peaceful northern city of Mazar-e-Shairf.

Some 10,000 strong NATO-led ISAF forces have been stationed in Afghanistan to stabilize security in the war-plagued central Asian state.
