Chinese Premier urges officials to better understand role to serve people
font size

Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao urged government officials to study the Law on Public Servants so as to be aware of their role better to serve the people Tuesday.

Chairing a workshop held by the State Council, Wen stressed that civil servants' power is given by the people, so they should take the responsibility for the people and put themselves under the direct supervision of the people.

The law, first of its kind as a general guidance on cadre management, clearly stipulates civil servants' rights, obligations and legal liabilities, he said.

He required all public servants to study the law, regulate their behavior when carrying out duties, promote administrative reform and improve the legal system of government officials management.
