Russia-China oil pipeline project under way, Russian PM says
font size

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Yefimovich Fradkov said in Beijing Thursday that the consultations on the Russia-China oil pipeline project are under way, stating Russia will "honor its commitment".

Companies from Russia and China are working hard over the project and negotiating to find possible solutions satisfying bothsides, said Fradkov after talks with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.

Fradkov started his official visit to China Wednesday to co-chair the 10th Sino-Russian Prime Ministers' Meeting with Premier Wen.

Fradkov said Russia will try its best to "honor its commitment".

Fradkov said the oil cooperation between the two countries has not stopped. In 2004, Russia exported 5.8 million tons of oil to China by rail and its oil export to China this year is expected toreach 8 million tons.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in September that a planned Siberian pipeline will first reach China and then the Pacific coast.
