Comoros president reaffirms one-China policy

The president of the Union of Comoros reiterated his country's adherence to the one-China policy on Saturday when accepting credentials of the new Chinese ambassador, said reports from the Comoros capital Moroni.

President Azili Assoumani congratulated China on its remarkable achievements in economy and foreign affairs, saying Comoros is satisfied with the current development of its relations with China.

Tao Weiguang, the newly appointed Chinese ambassador to Comoros, expressed his appreciation of the African country's adherence to the one-China policy.

Tao, who arrived in Comoros on Friday, also spoke highly of the friendship and cooperation between the two nations which established diplomatic ties in 1975.

He pledged to make efforts to further strengthen cooperation between China and Comoros during his tenure.
