Chea Sim, chairman of Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and the president of Senate on Tuesday met with the delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) headed by Liu Yunshan, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

Liu, also a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, conveyed to Chea Sim greeting and good wishes of the CPC General Secretary Hu Jintao and CPPCC (Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference) Chairman Jia Qinglin.

Chea Sim spoke highly of the steady and healthy development of friendly ties between Cambodian and Chinese governments, as well as the parties of the two countries, saying the friendly relationship between the CPP and the CPC is an important part of the relations between the two countries.

He thanked the Chinese government for its constant support and aid for the development cause of Cambodia over the past many years, and welcomed Chinese companies to invest in Cambodia's agriculture, infrastructure, transportation, electric power and other fields.

He reaffirmed that the CPP and the Senate will continue to adhere to the "One China" policy. He said that the royal government and the CPP attached great importance to enhancing the regional and international cooperation, especially the cooperation with China.

Liu thanked the Cambodian government and the CPP for its stance on the issues of China's Taiwan and Tibet.

He also highly valued the close cooperation between the CPP and the FUNCINPEC party, adding that the CPP, as one of the major ruling parties, has played important role in maintaining country's independence, peace, reconstruction and development.

As the CPC and CPP are both ruling parties, Liu said, consolidating exchanges and cooperation between the two parties will be beneficial for the two parties' building and the development of the two states.

He suggested to further strengthen the exchange of high-level visits between the two parties, and also the exchange of visits of cadre at the grass-roots level, in an effort to promote and deepen the all-round cooperation between the two parties. Chea Sim agreed with Liu.

As a sincere friend of Cambodia, Liu said, China and Cambodia, two close neighbors with deepened mutual trust, have consistently respect, support and helped each other, and this relationship has stood the test of fast-changing international situation.

Liu said that China attaches great importance to developing the friendly cooperation with neighboring countries, which also includes Cambodia.

During his stay in Cambodia, Liu is also scheduled to meet with King Norodom Sihamoni, FUNCINPEC party President and the National Assembly President Prince Norodom Ranariddh and Prime Minister and Vice-Chairman of the CPP Hun Sen.

The Chinese delegation arrived here on Saturday for a five-day official goodwill visit at the invitation of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and the royalist FUNCINPEC party.
