Wang Mingjuan wins first gold at Doha weightlifting worlds

Wang Mingjuan of China won the first gold medal on the opening day of the world weightlifting championships as she broke the junior snatch world record of the women's 48kg category here on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old Wang snached 93kg in her second attempt to break her junior world record of 92kg. She hoisted 95kg in the third lift and successfully rewrote the world record again.

Pensiri Saelaw of Thailand placed second in the snatch by lifting 88kg and her compatriot Aree Wiratthaworn the third at 85kg.
