The body of Azahari bin Husni, the most dreaded terror suspect in Indonesia who was killed in a police raid in a house in Flanboyan Villa, Batu city in the East Java town of Malang, Wednesday, would be flown to Jakarta for further check Friday.
"The victim's body was taken out of the Bhayangkara Hospital at 6:30 a.m. and was to be driven to Surabaya's Juanda Airport," official news agency Antara quoted Senior Commissioner Musaddeq Ishaq, chief of East Java Police's Health Services, as saying.
Accompanied by East Java Police Spokesman Senior Commissioner Endro Wardoyo, Ishaq said that the results of the autopsy of the victim's body would soon be sent to Police Chief Sutanto and East Java Regional Police Chief Edi Sunarno.
"We have conducted identification process based on the Interpol standards," he said.
The identification process included assessment of fingerprint, DNA test, teeth forensic examination, medical data, photo and assessment of attributes or properties the victim was using, he said.
"The only one we had not yet conducted is the DNA test because we are still waiting for his DNA sample from Malaysia," he added.
Top fugitive bombmaker Azahari of Malaysian nationality was blamed for a series of major terror attacks in Indonesia in the past three years and believed to lead a terrorist group aimed to establish an independent Muslim state in Southeast Asia.
