Ratio of China's computers infected by virus reaches 85.57%

With the rapid growth of the kinds and quantity of computer viruses, there come more harm and destruction. Computer viruses have become No 1 sworn enemies for information network security, which not only has severe impact on the long-term development strategy of China's informatization, but also constitutes a threat to the national security, said Zhang Jian, director of the National Computer Virus Emergency Response Center, according to a Xinhua website report on Friday in Tianjin.

The ratio of China's computers infected with virus has reached 85.57 per cent, an increase of 1.59 percentage points if compared with that of 2002 and 25.57 percentage points with that of 2001, according to the third national computer virus survey by the center.

At the present, the number of Internet users has exceeded 80 million in China, or one out of nine users in the world is in the country. Internet has become essential to people's work and life.
