Four Linux standards submitted for approval and to be issued next year

Four documents of Chinese Version Linux Application Programming Interface norms have been submitted to the state for examination and will be for approval soon. The relevant corresponding standards for testing are also under preparation, said a relevant official with the Standardization Research Institute under the Ministry of Information Industry on Sunday, reports the Beijing Times on Monday.

The standards will be officially announced next year, estimated Lu Shouqun, president of China Open Source Software Linux Organization, which will have great significance on the development of China's Linux industry.

China's Linux industry has been turned from concept to actual application, becoming the foundation stone and main force for the development of China's homemade software industry, said Doctor Gao Lin with the Science and Technology Development under the research institute. The core problem blocking the extensive application of Linux is how to solve the compatibility among the different versions, applicable kinds of software and peripheral equipment.
