China seizes 5,001 suspects for IPR violation in past 12 months

China seized 5,001 suspects for violation of intellectual property rights (IPR) in the past 12 months, according to the Ministry of Public Security Tuesday.

From Nov. 1, 2004 to Oct. 31, 2005, the country's public security authorities cracked 2,611 of the 2,991 cases of IPR violation placed on file. The total value involved in the cases reached 2.06 billion yuan (251 million US dollars) and the economic losses retrieved from the cases was 990 million yuan (121 million US dollars).
