News from an international seminar on higher education student affairs, held recently at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, says number of Chinese students studying abroad has topped the world and reached 114,700 in 2004 alone, reports People's Daily Overseas Edition.

It was learned that there are 2.7 million students studying abroad worldwide. Main exporters of foreign students include China, India and the Republic of Korea (ROK). By the end of 2004 the largest importer of overseas students is the United States which boasts 3.7 percent of foreign students in its total population. Following the US are Britain and Germany with foreign students in Germany accounting for 10.1 percent of its population.
