Hong Kong bans poultry imports from 3 regions
font size

The government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Tuesday banned poultry imports from Xinjiang, Ningxia and Yunnan because of confirmed bird flu outbreaks.

The government has suspended the processing of applications for the importation of poultry from the three places with immediate effect, a spokesman for the Health, Welfare and Food Bureau announced Tuesday.

The spokesman added that Hong Kong had only imported a small amount of frozen poultry from Ningxia.

Hong Kong government has strengthened its measures against bird flu though there is no signs of the epidemic outbreak so far.
