font size

Insurgents shot dead two US soldiers on patrol in northern Iraqi city of Mosul, the US military said on Wednesday.

"Two Task Force Freedom Soldiers were killed by small-arms fire while on patrol in Mosul on Nov. 19," the military said in a brief statement.

The name of the soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it added.

The death toll has brought to about 2,100 the number of US military personnel who have died in Iraq since the US-led invasion in March 2003, according to media reports.
