Chinese swimming sets up biggest ever national team

With Olympic champion Luo Xuejuan and a mixed squad, China has launched the biggest ever national swimming team, the Chinese Swimming Association (CSA) revealed here on Wednesday.

The new team recruited about a number of 170 swimmers, coaches and doctors, including world-calss veterans Luo, Qi Hui, Yang Yu and second-string young talents who came up in the recent years.

Li Hua, chairman of CSA, said: "It is the biggest ever national team in history. We hope our swimmers could have a better results than in Athens."

Chinese swimmers won one gold and one silver at the Athens Olympic Games.

The new national team has started to get together in Beijing on Nov. 21 and will announce a series new decisions in the following days.
