Ticket sales for Turin Games slow-moving
font size

Ticket sales for the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin remain sluggish with the Games to start in two-and-a-half months, organising commitee said on Thursday.

About 60 percent of tickets are sold against a target of 82 percent, and tickets for hockey, speedskating, figure skating and alpine skiing were the most popular, the organizers of the Turin Olympics said.

Top official of the Organizing Committee expected a last-minute rush for tickets once Italians see the Olympic torch criss-cross their country and are reminded that their Games are about to begin.

The Olympic torch relay will begin around Italy on Dec. 8, and the Games will run from Feb. 10 to Feb. 26.
